Profile
In 1976, Dr. John Sperling founded University of Phoenix and made a commitment to provide working adults with higher education options at convenient class times. Today, our students study at more than 200 locations, as well as through online programs available in countries around the world. We offer a wide variety of associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs. Our commitment also extends to our higher education innovations. University of Phoenix helped pioneer many of the conveniences that many students now enjoy — evening classes, flexible scheduling, continuous enrollment, a university-wide academic social network, online classes, a digital library and computer simulations. In addition, the University has 20 years of experience in online education.
Our Military Division staff of nearly 1,000 dedicated military advisors works directly with active military members, their spouses, and veterans to help them balance frequent deployments, relocations, and training schedules while obtaining their degrees. We also offer special military tuition rates and credit for previous military training and education. When it’s time to graduate, we connect students to a network of more than 700,000 alumni.

Why this school is an excellent choice for military membersWe understand the needs and demands of military service. We created a military division that employs nearly 1,000 counselors, most of whom are veterans, to help military students attain their academic goals. We provide deferrment options, and are a Yellow Ribbon school. We extend extensive tuition discounts to military students and their spouses and partner with several government and military organizations to offer scholarships. We work closely with information officers at military bases around the globe to ensure the University is providing the support and information necessary to help military personnel determine which educational programs best fit their lifestyle.
