Programs to support faculty in terms of their knowledge and understandingAIU has a formal program of military empathy training called: “The Person Inside The Uniform”. This training is presented to all faculty either as a live or web based seminar. This training effectively helps all our faculty understand how to best relate to active and veteran military students.
Military students called to active service return without penalty policyAIU continually strives to improve and enhance our military policies and procedures in order to be as military-friendly as possible. For a deployed student with very limited or no access to an internet-connection, or with a schedule that no longer permits them to attend school, AIU has established internal processes to help ensure that a deployed military student may not be affected both financially or academically as long as we can obtain supporting documentation that would substantiate deployment. This document can be obtained from their Education Officer or from their Commanding Officer. In addition to utilizing our dedicated military student advisor we have an additional point of contact, our Military Relations Department, which can be contacted at military ombudsman@aiuonline.edu, or via phone toll free at 1-(877)701-3800 ext. 64025
