Programs to support faculty in terms of their knowledge and understandingFor school year 2012-13 the College is planning it's first faculty training in the area of supporting veteran students. Target delivery date is August 2012.
Military students called to active service return without penalty policyA military student called to active duty can return without penalty. The College has had this occur in the past and in such cases, students are placed in "indefinite leave" status until they return. There is no financial or academic burden placed upon the student in this situation.
Policy concerning students who are involuntarily activated for military serviceLe Moyne's policy concerning reservist military students who are involuntarily activated for military service is that the student is allowed a leave of absence without penalty. Depending upon the point in the semester that the activation occurs, the student is either withdrawn from all courses or receives grades on "incomplete". The student is allowed to finish the incomplete grades upon their return.
Why this school is an excellent choice for military membersLe Moyne has a one-stop Veterans Services Office which serves as central headquarters for Veteran, Vet-dependent, reservist and active-duty students. Services include:
- Advisors to help Vets identify benefits and assist with transfer credits (including credit for military training and coursework)
- Priority registration
- A Vet-to-Vet mentoring program for new students
- An on campus Veterans House and meeting center
- Specialized academic support resources
Le Moyne is a proud Yellow Ribbon Program participant, a Servicemembers Opportunities College (SOC) Consortium member and was named a Military-Friendly School in both 2010-2011 and 2011-12.
