Military students called to active service return without penalty policyStudents called to active duty or involuntarily activated, deployed, or relocated during an academic term may be able to make arrangements with their faculty members to complete their courses via e-learning. In those cases where this is not possible or desirable these students are eligible for 100% refund of tuition and fees, and a prorated adjustment on housing and meal plans. Returning military students are not required to reapply for admission and are welcomed back as in-state-residents for tuition purposes. Military students who return after their admitted catalog expires should meet with an academic advisor for assistance.
Student Veteran AssociationsVeterans of UAA club.
With support of the University Administration, the Veterans of UAA club joined the Student Veterans Association in April 2011. Why this school is an excellent choice for military membersThe University of Alaska Anchorage has served the Fort Richardson and Elmendorf Air Force Base communities for over 50 years, providing military friendly education in the classroom and via distance delivery. Day classes, as well as evening and weekend classes, are available. The largest university in Alaska, UAA offers resident tuition to all personnel stationed in Alaska and their dependents. In addition to serving a large veteran population, several UAA faculty, staff and administrators are retired or military veterans; this provides an insider’s view of many of the issues unique to military personnel and their families.
