All active duty servicemembers stationed at any military installation in New Mexico are considered for In-State Tuition. All veterans and their family members, regardless of where they live, are entitled to In-State Tuition when using their GI Bill benefits

NMSU is one of three semifinalists for the 2009 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award: Nominated for outstanding service to Servicemembers, Veterans and Families Education Summit. The award is the U.S. government’s highest recognition given to employers for exceptional support of their employees serving in the Guard and Reserve. NMSU was selected from more than 3,200 nominations submitted by National Guard and Reserve members.

The NMSU System Las Cruces campus grants bachelor, master, doctoral and graduate certificates and there are associate degree granting community colleges in Las Cruces, Alamogordo, Carlsbad, and Grants. NMSU’s Albuquerque Center provides distance education programs. NMSU maintains on-base educational centers on Holloman Air Force Base (NMSU-Alamogordo), White Sands Missile Range (NMSU-Dona Ana), and Fort Bliss (NMSU System).
