Discounts for military students:

Grand Valley State University will grant in-state tuition to all active duty members of the armed forces of the United States and their spouses and dependents, if the member of the armed forces is a Michigan resident (and has not established residency in another state) or is stationed in Michigan. In addition, once an active duty member of the armed forces or his or her spouse or dependent qualifies for in-state status, that status will continue to be recognized as long as the student is continually enrolled in the current degree program at Grand Valley State University.

School policy on involuntary activation for military service:

Based on when the solider receives orders and what makes sense, the University works with each student to determine the best options based on the circumstances. Students can withdraw with a 100% refund and without penalty. Special arrangements can be made to finish courses under certain circumstances.
Noteworthy awards or recognition school has received:

The Princeton Review named Grand Valley one of the best universities in the Midwest in a 2009 Web site feature. Seidman College of Business was listed as a top business school in the country. For the 13th year in a row, Grand Valley was named one of America’s 100 Best College Buys by Institutional Research and Evaluation, Inc. Grand Valley is ranked 10th among U.S. master’s degree-granting institutions for total number of study abroad students, according to the Institute of International Education in New York.

Why school is an excellent choice for military members and their families:

Grand Valley State University is honored to acknowledge the contributions made by the members of our armed services. We thank you, and your families, for your sacrifices in defending our way of life.

Grand Valley State is located in Allendale, Michigan, just 15 miles west of Grand Rapids, Michigan’s second largest city, and only 3 hours from Chicago and Detroit. Grand Valley is a comprehensive, public university, offering a liberal education foundation in 77 undergraduate and 28 graduate degree programs, including business, computer science, education, engineering, health professions, nursing, public service, science, the arts, and more.

Our motivated students, rich learning environments, rigorous academics, high national rankings, and helpful support programs make Grand Valley ideal for veterans, service members, or eligible family members of disabled veterans who seek a challenging and rewarding educational experience.

Grand Valley's "Veterans Network" is not a single office or individual but rather a team of identified staff members embedded within critical service departments, who are trained to understand the unique needs of military veterans and assist them in reaching their goals.
