Yellow Ribbon Opens Doors

Change in the Post-9/11 GI Bill funding forumula helps many student veterans, but it leaves some hanging.

Many private colleges and universities are facing either new challenges or pleasant surprises as the Yellow Ribbon Program begins its third year providing the financial underpinning that allows veterans to attend the nation’s most costly schools.

In passing the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Improvement Act of 2010 – the so-called GI Bill 2.0 – Congress streamlined the Post-9/11 GI Bill’s complex and confusing tuition benefit formula that had been a millstone to college administrators and student veterans.
